Solutions for Tyre Retail and Wholesale
A valuable part of
the Dexel Tyre success story
The Tyreman system is recognised as being very adaptable and user
friendly for tyre retailers throughout the UK market and this impressive
view is certainly endorsed by Dexel
Tyre Company Limited who have used the program to good effect
for the past five years.
With headquarters in Sheffield, Dexel Tyre was formed in 1961 by
Peter France as a garage and built up the business into a tyre retail
service until his death in 1990 when his son Paul became Managing
Director. During the past fourteen years Paul has embarked on a
steady growth programme that has included the acquisition of several
smaller businesses in the region and Dexel currently operate a chain
of thirteen retail tyre depots throughout the North of England.
When asked why Dexel chose to install the Tyreman system in 1999,
Paul points out that at this time the company needed to improve
its ‘front of house’ opportunities regarding its computer
system and it was time move on and expand our horizons in terms
of IT services as we needed a program that helped Dexel to sell
tyres in the retail market. Having surveyed the various options
open to us and invited several companies to make a presentation,
we chose the Tyreman system because it appeared to be the best system
for our particular business needs.
“Initially we decided to have a basic system installed but
in the last five years Dexel has benefited from several upgrades
and Tyreman is now responsible for all point of sale, stock control
and sales ledger activities.”
Very responsive
Obviously good support is vital and Finance Director, Robert Cooke
explains that everyone in the company really appreciated the high
level of support received from Tyreman. He says, “They are
always very responsive when we need help or have a query and any
problems are usually sorted out both swiftly and efficiently. There
is no doubt that having the Tyreman system has made a lot more information
accessible to Dexel and therefore it has helped us a lot in the
ongoing management of the business. In effect the system has guided
us in the direction we have wanted to go in.”
Very shortly Dexel will be having a further upgrade which will
be the new Tyreman system that has recently been introduced into
the UK tyre market Paul adds, “Both Robert and I particularly
appreciate the way the Tyreman team are always open to new ideas
we put forward to them and will listen and discuss any views we
may have to further improve our IT operation.”
In April of next year the company will re-badge the remaining tyre
depots that are still trading under their own name since being acquired,
to Dexel Tyre and Paul openly admits that he will look towards further
growth and additional depots in the future with Tyreman continuing
to be a major asset to this thriving business.
